At least I rarely encounter trolls but there are so many hardcore gamers in pvp, like 300 lvl.

When I purchased the bag and obviously picked the role, the game gave me 2000 role xp. I was getting normal xp when collecting prior to that and now I get role xp too.
The role started for me as soon as I purchased the 15 gold bag. You can find this hatchet in a stump directly south of Window Rock, which is west of Fort Wallace, just across the river.

Do you mean you don't have the role or you have the role but not the bag? If you don't have the role then I guess you won't be able to get the good collectables that require a shovel or metal detector but will be limited to the crap ones like cards.
